MySpace Turning Off External Image, Video and Widget Services

There have been a lot of talk for the past few weeks about MySpace not letting its users to use any external image, video and widget services.

From my point of view, it seems MySpace is doing for a good cause. Here are the reasons:
- More controlled and safer environment
- Easier management
- Prevent any exploit caused by the external services.

Some of us might support MySpace for doing his but some don't. If you disagree with MySpace decision to turn off any external image, video and widget services…you can sign a petition at http://www.petitiononline.com/pbucket/petition.html. Currently there are a total of 2680 signatures obtained.

Teens Arrested for Video Posted on MySpace

Recently, two teenage girls has been arrested by Police on Tuesday for investigation of battery because of a videotaped beating of a mentally retarded girl which was posted on MySpace. Both of the girls are from the Newport harbor High School and are still minors - their names were not released to the public.

MySpace Safety Plan - Smoke and Mirrors?

Earlier today I posted about MySpace planning some structural changes to block sexual predators from abusing the social network and it's members. A total of 49 states (in the US) will be cooperating closely with MySpace to help their plans. If you remember, there are a total of 50 states in US and which states is missing? Well, it's Texas.

Texas Attorney General, Greg Abbott explained the reason for not participating and cooperating with MySpace at News.com.

In my opinion, it's better to have some kind of plan than having no plan at all. As my mom used to say "If you fail to plan, then you plan to fail"
