MySpace Music was announced in February, 2008 and is most likely to get into a partnership with Amazon to handle the online business. Once this venture begins music lovers will be able to stream the music that Is on demand and create playlists. It will also allow the users to add music players widgets to their own profiles.

MySpace will authorize any DRM-free downloads which can be either supported by advertisement or through payment. MySpace music is also considering having MySpace music ringtones, tickets to concerts and products in the pipeline to ensure more revenue. It has been announced that this service will be launched in September, 2008.

The strongest contender of MySpace is Facebook and in order to outperform their growing popularity MySpace has come up with a new facility for their users. They have launched a special facility of accessing the site on the mobiles. In UK they have worked out the deal with Vodafone. Now you are free to use the mobile to stay connected with your MySpace friends through the mobile phone, write blogs and also check their status and updates. As the number of mobile subscribers is increasing rapidly in all parts of the world, this strategy seems to work wonders on the popularity of MySpace.

MySpace Music launched the Secret Shows franchise in January 2006 and has since hosted such acts as the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, the Killers, Tenacious D, Maroon 5, Ice Cube, Rilo Kiley, Neil Diamond and James Blunt in cities around the world. Social networking pioneer MySpace has created its most successful music program with the intimate Secret Shows series, whose 150th installment will feature Gnarls Barkley on June 8 at Irving Plaza in New York. MySpace Redesign Benefits Advertisers

Though MySpace has recently implemented their latest major redesign on most MySpace pages, there are still more to come. One of the benefits from the recent redesign is that advertisers can now advertise on MySpace’s with a splash page on the homepage. Currently MySpace is reserving the spot for Hollywood films but other major industry players are welcome to contact the MySpace team for a spot.

MySpace and BBC – Global Video Deal

MySpace has finally partnered with BBC This partnership agreement and the global video deal will bring a worldwide audience to British broadcaster’s programs. Note that this is the first global video/content deal ever made involving a major network and the move will make MySpace a more popular place for video and music (much similar to Yahoo!).

Presidential Primary Poll On MySpace

If you remember, a few months ago MySpace announced that they will hold a grand Presidential Primary poll on its very own Impact Channel. And guess what? The day for the poll is just around the corner and if you’re not busy with New Year’s Day, you can join in the poll to. It starts at EST 3.01 am 1st January 2008 and ends at EST 11.59 pm 2nd January 2008.

I think that MySpace should make their own political party…lol They should stop involving themselves into politics..most teen’s don’t really care about politics.

MySpace Protecting Members from Sexual Predators

Over the recent years, MySpace has been contaminated with sexual predators and it seems that MySpace is thinking of implementing some structural change and also getting independent monitoring to help block sexual predators from abusing the social network and it’s members.

As the days goes by, spammers are constantly thingking of new ways to exploit MySpace for profits. Their tactics/techniques of profiting from MySpace has been closely guarded secret…not anymore! It seems like the guys at the SpywareGuide Blog has uncovered how fake profiles are created.

Slacker/Myspace User Wins DJ Search

The winner, Tim Lynch from Chico, California was selected for his station entitled “Project Airwaves.” After Slacker users submitted a custom station link, Slacker DJs listened to and judged each station based on the listening experience, creativity of the station description, and original station image.

Users who have created custom Slacker stations submitted them for a chance to win a personal concert from the indie rock band Sherwood. Slacker and MySpace today announced the winner of the Slacker’s MySpace DJ Search contest.

MySpace Dominates The Social Networking Industry In 2007

While the media and Silicon Valley have lost our corporate minds over the hype of Facebook over the previous year, traffic analysts Hitwise released statistics today indicating that things are not as they might appear. Apparently, all the Facebook hoopla has not translated into a big increase in cultural web marketplace percentage among US users. Hitwise says that Myspace received 72.32% of US visits to the best ten cultural networks in December 2007, while Facebook received just over 16%. How about year over year increase? Facebook had 10.59% market share in December 2006, Hitwise says. Myspace dropped from almost 79%. It appears that cultural networking has grown in general; though Facebook posts amazing numbers of original users, in terms of pure visits Myspace is almost keeping upward with its increase.
