MySpace & FaceBook Battle For The Music Market!

Facebook has the largest social networking membership in the world. However it is lagging behind MySpace in the music territory. The reason why MySpace has an edge over Facebook in this context is because they have provisions to host innumerable bands and artists on their site. Most newcomers create their page on MySpace. These pages not only help the artists to befriend others but allow music streaming where the artist has complete authority on the presentation of the site.
In Facebook the artists can set up their own pages but there is no room for streaming music. Moreover MySpace is launching a joint venture with all the big brands for access to playlists, downloads, music streaming, ringtones, merchandising and many more features. This massive step will not only help drive traffic for any musical quest but also generate revenue for MySpace of which a portion will be given to the artist as well.
Facebook on the other hand is depending on iLike that has no options for music streaming but depends on Rhapsody. Those who want music streaming through Facebook have to go through various channels like the brands, Rhapsody, iLike and then Facebook. Compared to Facebook MySpace has a larger audience in its social circle as well as the music world.
